Brain Quest Adventure
Last month, we stumbled upon Brain Quest For The Car, a nostalgic blast from the past with its blend of fun and learning. While our 2013 version provided fantastic entertainment, there's an updated edition available on Amazon, for anyone wanting more updated questions.
Harry Potter Scene It: The Magical Journey Begins
Now, let's turn our attention to our latest trivia endeavor: Harry Potter Scene It. Another Thrift Store find, this time for my daughter's 11th birthday party. And it was an instant hit with the kids. They loved the game aspect and the trivia questions, but they mostly loved the group challenges and puzzles that came on the DVD. It was much easier to keep the attention of all the kids doing group challenges instead of focusing on small teams too!
Our version of the game is only covers books 1-3, and it looks like you can only find it secondhand. But Scene-It has a version that is the ENTIRE Harry Potter series and is available on Amazon.
Gameplay Overview
If you've never played a Scene It game before, it's a mix of a board game with TV game. While you're moving a physical piece around the board, answering trivia questions from physical cards, you also watch video clips and participate in group puzzle games from the DVD. Puzzle games like unscrambling letters and images, asking about background details from a video clip. If you haven't seen all of the movies, or at least read the Harry Potter books, you probably won't do very well in the game. Even just a basic understanding of the storyline is good enough!
Trivia Question Categories
- Hogwarts: Players must identify things to do with the magical world associated with life at Hogwarts
- Wizarding World: Players must answer a question associated with the world of magic outside of Hogwarts
- Muggles: Players must answer a question related to the non-magical world
So, if you're looking for a magical addition to your game collection or a fun activity for your next gathering, I highly recommend giving Harry Potter Scene It a try. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
